A rough year

Its been an year since I graduated and I should say "It was ROUGH". With millions of jobs lost and corporations restructuring , It was not easy for a foreign student with almost no experience to get a job, adding to this, I have a 40K debt and my dad retired few months before I graduated. May be I was lucky, I got a couple of jobs but situations made me choose one that was not related to my major and not certainly the salary I expected. It was a 40K job in a wireless company. It was not certainly the job I wanted, all I get is a VAN, equipment, few laptops ,a driver, hotel and I have to go across the country testing cell phone signal reception. It was not an easy job.The most interesting thing to me in the job was overtime.I knew this experience would not add up to my resume. So I decided to make the best out of it, working 100 hrs a week, I shot the 40K to 100K.The physical strain and stress in the job was too much to handle, but the pay cheque kept me rolling. Almost paid back my debt, helped few friends and had my parents visit U.S. After a long and lonely year, travelling 100K miles , eating fast food and staying in hotel rooms every day, I am finally tired and could not take this any more but the job market was still getting worse and my work permit expired. My hard work paid off or may be I got lucky again, my company agreed to sponsor for my work permit and transferred me into office as an Data Analyst. My pay cheque certainly shrunk but I am happy that I can be my self again.I took a 2 month vacation and will be starting in the office from Oct 1.I could say " It was rough but It worked out for me".
